BIG unveils 'Telus Sky' Tower in Calgary

In an attempt to transform Calgary's corporate-centric downtown into a walkable, dynamic community, TELUS has commissioned BIG to design a mixed-use skyscraper in the heart of the Canadian city. Known as TELUS Sky, the 750,000 square foot tower is designed to "seamlessly accommodate the transformation from working to living as the tower takes off from the ground to reach the sky."

St. Catharines construction to create dynamic downtown

Construction is underway in the heart of downtown St. Catharines on two adjacent projects, the downtown performing arts centre and the new home of Brock University's Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts. Both projects were designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects. Funded by the three levels of government, the 90,000-square-foot performing arts facility is comprised of four state-of-the-art performance venues for music, theatre, dance and film.

L'imprésario, collectionneur d'art et bâtisseur David Mirvish a demandé à Frank Gehry d'imaginer la réhabilitation d'un ensemble d'entrepôts industriels au nord de King Street à Toronto. Ils viennent de présenter la deuxième version de leur projet : une triade de tours de plus de 80 étages. Actuellement, le site à réhabiliter est occupé par des entrepôts en briques datant du siècle dernier et par le théâtre Princess of Wales.

James Carpenter, the MacArthur "genius"-grant-winning light artist and architect who has won acclaim for recent projects, has created a brilliant installation at Harbourfront's new garage and public square. London skyscraper may be redesigned to trap and convert air pollution into biofuel

The Royal College of Arts (RCA) may see one of its students radically change London's skyline in the future. Dezeen has reported that Chang-Yeob Lee, an architecture masters student of RCA, wants to completely redesign the look of London's BT Tower sometime in the future by adding exterior carbon fibre and steel rigging, which will be designed to capture and convert air pollution into sustainable fuel.
