RAIC offers 6 Veronafiere sponsorships
Canadian Architect
For the seventh year, the RAIC is again offering a unique international professional development opportunity of scholarships for six member architects to participate in the popular course at Veronafiere and Marmomacc, from September 23-27, 2013 in Verona and Milan, Italy. Scholarships cover tuition, meals, accommodations, local transportation and registration fees. Those selected will be responsible for travel costs to and from Verona.

Is this truly Canada's greenest home? That's what Chris Magwood calls the single family house in Peterborough, ON. Chris was nervous about the claim: "We were initially quite hesitant to brand this project as "Canada's Greenest." The claim was not made to be boastful or to dismiss the work of other designers and builders who have made remarkably green homes... But we were very interested in pushing as many boundaries as possible with this project."

Déclaration pour la mobilité durable et pont Champlain: L'ordre prend position

Le président de l'Ordre, André Bourassa, présentait le 27 mai dernier le mémoire Futur pont sur le Saint-Laurent : pour un ouvrage responsable. Ce document a été remis à Transports Canada au nom du Regroupement pour la qualité architecturale du pont Champlain, qui réunit 16 organismes. Cette vaste coalition, dans laquelle l'OAQ est très impliqué, fait notamment trois recommandations pour le futur pont.

Training facility set to break ground next year

MCI Design Build is slated to start construction late next year on a 2,000-square-metre, multi-sport training centre in London, ON. The facility is the first such gymnastics training centre in the city designed to meet international specifications. The new multi-sport training facility was designed in-house at privately owned MCI. The company was approached by Gymworld to develop the project concept and assist with pre-construction services including re-zoning of the acquired site and site plan approval.
